The Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has forecast that Ramadan 2025 will likely begin on March 2 in Pakistan.
According to SUPARCO, the new moon will occur at 5:45 PM Pakistan Standard Time on February 28, 2025, and by sunset, the moon will be 12 hours old.
However, due to its low altitude and a narrow 7-degree angle with the sun, the crescent will be difficult to detect with the naked eye.
As a result, the start of Ramadan in Pakistan is expected to be delayed until March 2, with the first day of fasting following that date.
In contrast, the crescent may be visible in Saudi Arabia on February 28, which could mean that Ramadan begins there on March 1, 2025.
Additionally, the Eid ul-Fitr crescent is anticipated to be sighted on March 30, with Eid possibly falling on March 31, 2025.
SUPARCO emphasized that the final decision regarding the sighting of the Ramadan and Eid crescents rests with Pakistan’s Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
