The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is set to meet on Saturday (July 6) to see the crescent of Muharrum 1446 AH.
An official of the committee said the chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad will chair the meeting at the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) building in Quetta.
The zonal committees will also hold meetings in their respective headquarters to find evidence of the appearance of the Muharram moon.
However, the weather department predicted that the crescent for the Islamic month is unlikely to be seen today.
According to the PMD, the weather is expected to be mostly cloudy in Quetta, while the provincial capital will likely experience rain.
The Met office said that the crescent for the Islamic month is expected to be witnessed on Sunday, which will mark the beginning of Muharram 1446 AH.
The weather office added that Ashura is likely to fall on Wednesday (July 17).
