Salman Akram Raja, a senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has alleged that the government of Imran Khan was removed in April 2022 as part of an international conspiracy, adding that the party’s stance had been proven correct following the emergence of the cipher reportedly disclosed by Drop Site News.
Speaking at a press conference alongside Asad Qaiser and Taimur Saleem Jhagra, Salman Akram Raja said that the situation in the country was becoming increasingly serious, with political and constitutional crises continuing to intensify.
He criticised the detention of the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi, stating that meetings were not being permitted despite court orders.
He further alleged that repeated appeals regarding the non-implementation of judicial decisions were not being heard.
According to Salman Akram Raja, the PTI founder is being held in solitary confinement and there are concerns regarding his health. He also claimed that lawyers were facing difficulties and alleged incidents of enforced disappearances.
He further claimed that attempts were being made to deprive the public of their right to vote and weaken the political system.
According to him, Pakistan’s economic conditions were also deteriorating rapidly, with inflation and fuel prices continuing to rise.
The PTI leader warned that if the judicial and parliamentary systems ceased to function effectively, decisions would ultimately be made on the streets. He also expressed concerns regarding provincial rights and possible changes to the NFC Award.
