The Islamabad district administration has announced the closure of all government and private educational institutions in the federal capital on Monday, citing security concerns due to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest.
In a tweet, Islamabad Deputy Commissioner confirmed that a formal notification regarding the closure will be issued shortly.
The decision comes as PTI supporters advance toward the capital for a planned demonstration, following party chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan's call for a nationwide protest.
Separately, the Private Schools Association Islamabad has also decided to suspend classes on Monday. General Secretary Abdul Waheed stated that the current situation leaves no option but to close schools, as the safety of students cannot be compromised.
Additionally, COMSATS University has announced that all undergraduate and graduate classes scheduled for Monday will be conducted online.
Heightened Security in Islamabad
Security measures have been intensified across Islamabad as convoys of PTI supporters approach the city.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, addressing the media at D-Chowk, stated that authorities will take every possible step to prevent PTI caravans from entering the federal capital, adding that no protest will be allowed at D-Chowk.
The Islamabad High Court earlier declared PTI’s planned protest illegal, directing the federal government to maintain order while minimizing disruption to public life.
Imran Khan, who has accused the government of a "stolen mandate" and criticized recent political developments, has labeled the protest as a "final call" against what he terms a growing "dictatorial regime.
