Security forces successfully thwarted a major terrorist attack on Bannu Cantonment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killing at least six attackers, sources confirmed on Tuesday.
According to security sources, militants affiliated with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) attempted to breach the compound using two explosive-laden vehicles. Facing stiff resistance from security personnel, the attackers triggered massive explosions.
Security forces neutralized six terrorists at various entry points and arrested others. The explosions caused significant damage, including the collapse of a house roof and destruction to a nearby mosque.

A spokesperson for the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) reported that at least 15 civilians, including four children and two women, lost their lives, while 25 others sustained injuries.
The attack follows a recent suicide bombing at a religious school in the province, which killed six people. Pakistan has witnessed an uptick in militant attacks since the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan in 2021.
