Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry has stated that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is running an organized campaign against state institutions on social media, warning that participation in trends targeting the country could lead to legal action.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Talal Chaudhry said that terrorist organizations are actively using social media, while certain elements are working against national security.

Chaudhry asserted that the government believes in freedom of expression; however, a malicious campaign is being carried out on social media against state institutions, and no compromise will be made on national sovereignty.

The Minister of State further alleged that PTI is systematically running anti-state campaigns on social media, with many of its accounts being operated from abroad.

He claimed that trends linked to the banned terrorist organization BLA are also promoted online, adding that individuals are paid for each message, hashtags and trends are sold, and people earn money by creating and amplifying social media trends.

Talal Chaudhry cautioned that those who become part of trends against the country may face legal consequences.

He also said that many trending campaigns are managed by companies based overseas, which often change account names to conceal their operations.
