Former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has reportedly expressed relief over the departure of Sher Afzal Marwat from the party, days after the latter made serious allegations against Khan's sister, Aleema Khan.
According to media reports, Khan, while speaking to his legal team at Adiala Jail, remarked, “Thankfully, we got rid of Sher Afzal Marwat,” in response to the controversy sparked by Marwat’s accusations.
Marwat, a former PTI lawmaker, recently claimed during a media appearance that Aleema Khan had orchestrated a social media trolling campaign against him, including abusive content targeting his late parents.
He alleged that despite facing multiple FIRs, house demolitions, and imprisonment, he was subjected to online attacks allegedly initiated by Aleema, whom he described as behaving in a "bossy" manner toward party members.
He further claimed that upon raising the matter with Imran Khan in the presence of senior party leaders, Khan had stated that “no one should answer Aleema’s phone as she has no role in party matters.”
Marwat added that this led to a coordinated campaign against him involving party supporters and social media figures.
Additionally, media reports said Khan convened a meeting with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur regarding the Mines and Minerals Bill 2025. He also conveyed instructions to the party leadership to resolve internal disputes and criticized PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan for his "apologetic" stance.
Khan reportedly emphasized the need for urgent dialogue with Afghanistan due to growing security concerns in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and directed PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja to write to the Chief Justice about the lack of enforcement of the rule of law.
