Traffic police in Karachi have won the hearts of citizens by offering juice and water to commuters amid scorching weather in the port city.

The metropolis struggles through its fifth consecutive day of scorching temperatures above 40°C.

The heatwave has claimed 35 lives in the past four days, however, Commissioner Hasan Naqvi refuted the claims by rescue officials.

He said a total of 10 deaths were reported from heatstroke on Monday and Tuesday.

However, amidst the gloom, the city's traffic police have come forward to offer some relief to the citizens.

The police's kind gesture has been widely appreciated by Karachiites.

On the other hand, the Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD) came with good news for the residents as heavy rain with thunderstorms are expected to hit Karachi today and tomorrow (Thursday and Friday).

A day earlier, dust storm lashed various parts of Karachi, with rain reported in the suburbs of the megalopolis.
