As Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protesters head towards Islamabad, the authorities have closed train services in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Peshawar.

According to the media reports, train services from Peshawar to Islamabad, Lahore to Rawalpindi, and Faisalabad to Rawalpindi were suspended due to the PTI protest.

“Travel tickets of at least 25 trains have been closed on November 24, and the amount of tickets have also been returned to the passengers immediately after the cancellation,” stated the PR spokesperson.

According to PR, passengers can get their money back with a temporary ticketing office at railway stations.

Moreover, heavy contingents of police were deployed at the said railway stations, and it was sealed after banning passengers' entry.

The administration in Lahore, Peshawar, and Rawalpindi also blocked the thoroughfares leading to Islamabad with an aim to stop PTI protesters from getting to the federal capital.

However, the Punjab government claimed that PTI’s MPA and Imran Khan’s spouse, Bushra Bibi, did not participate in the protest.

Provincial information minister Azma Bukhari, addressing a press conference in Lahore, stated, “There are 104 PTI’s MPAs in Lahore, but not a signal member turned out of the home for protest.”

“Bushra Bibi, herself could not participate in the protest, she is sleeping herself after telling the nation to wake up,” she added.
