Following the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the inspection team from Canada also declared Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) security efforts 'satisfactory' after completing two days inspection of the Jinnah International Airport in Karachi.
According to the Airport Security Force (ASF), a two-member Canadian team on July 15 arrived Pakistan and began an assessment of the security arrangements at the airport and found all measures satisfactory.
It was the 5th international evaluation of Pakistan’s aviation security system in recent months.
ASF team gave the briefing to the Transport Canada team and shared details about the deployment of personnel, entry control, screening, issuance of passes, and addressing emergencies.
The Transport Canada team praised the efforts of ASF for taking measures to ensure the safety of the Pakistan International Airport (PIA) direct flight to Canada.
Pakistan’s aviation protocols have faced significant scrutiny since 2020 following a scandal wherein approximately 262 out of 860 pilots were declared with fake licenses.
Following the claims, the authority had ground around 150 pilots from the PIA and other carriers.
The revelation came after a tragic crash of PIA flight 8303 in Karachi, leaving the suspension of PIA’s operations in the European Union (EU) and other regions and prompting calls for regulatory reforms to improve safety standards and transparency.
