Spokesperson for the Gilgit-Baltistan government, Faizullah Faraq, has confirmed that two mosques were destroyed in Babusar due to powerful floodwaters.

According to details, the spokesman shared the tragic update that the flash floods in Babusar not only stranded numerous tourists but also caused extensive damage to infrastructure, including two mosques.

He said a large number of tourists remain trapped under challenging conditions in the area, while more than 100 have been offered shelter by residents of Thak Babusar in their homes.

He added that many tourists have been unable to contact their families due to a breakdown in the communication network.

However, all those who remain stranded are reported to be safe, and the search for missing individuals is ongoing.

The rescue efforts, initially hampered by darkness, resumed early in the morning.

All hotels and guest houses in the region have been opened free of charge to accommodate tourists. Over 200 tourists have been safely relocated to Chilas, and their communication with families has been restored.

Rescue operations are continuing at a fast pace along the Babusar Top highway to trace the missing individuals.

The Pakistan Army is actively participating in the efforts, and helicopters may be deployed if needed. Meanwhile, restoration work on flood-damaged roads is underway on an emergency basis.

Among the vehicles swept away in Chilas was one carrying a family originally from Sialkot, now residing in Lodhran since 2016.

According to family sources, 17 people, including two staff members, were traveling in the vehicle. Three individuals, including one woman, are still missing.
