Which areas of Karachi will face gas suspension on Sunday?

Amidst unannounced electricity loadshedding, Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) put another burden of gas suspension on Karachi’s consumers. 

A press release issued by the SSGC said that consumers in some areas of the metropolis will face gas suspension on Sunday due to maintenance work. 

The company said the gas supply to the Defence Housing Authority (DHA), Korangi, and surrounding areas will remain closed for 12 hours due to the installation of a new pipeline from Azeempura to Jam Sadiq Bridge.

During the work, “the gas supply will completely remain suspend on June 23 from 8am to 8pm. it added.

According to the statement, Defence View, Manzoor Colony, Akhtar Colony, Kashmir Colony, Mehmoodabad, Azam Basti, Qayyumabad, DHA Phase 2 Extension, Phase 5 and Phase 6 Extension, DHA Phase 8, Creek Vista and Emaar would be affected by the loadshedding. 

The SSGC was also taking measures to curb the illegal provision of gas. In this regard, the company was conducting raids in residential areas of Sindh and Balochistan.

Last week, it had detached at least 770 illegal gas connections from its pipelines, including 570 of Karachi.

During the raid, the SSGC team found a bakery owner operating a high-voltage generator on the domestic gas connection in North Karachi.
