Will Karachi receive heavy rain today?

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Tuesday issued a fresh weather advisory for the port city.

Several parts of the port city received moderate to heavy showers on Monday night, however, the weather remains humid in Karachi.

According to the PMD, several districts of Sindh, including Tharparkar, Umarkot, Sanghar, Mirpur Khas, Mithi, Thatta, Badin, Sajawal, Karachi, Jamshoro, Tando Mohammad Khan, Hyderabad, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sukkur, Khairpur, Kashmore, Larkana, Jacobabad and Dadu, also received rain coupled with thunderstorm under the third monsoon system.

The Met Office said heavy rain is expected to lash Karachi during the next 24 hours.

“Currently, low pressure is present in Pakistan, and it is expected to move towards the Southwest direction, which would cause rain in several parts of Karachi,” predicted weather analyst Jawad Memon in a post.

He added that thunder cells in the metropolis will start formation in the afternoon.

As per the forecast, the weather is expected to remain hot and humid in the city. The mercury is likely to go up 35 °C. The winds are blowing at a speed of 12 to 25 kilometres per hour.
