An initial medical report in the alleged sexual assault case involving a mentally challenged girl at Ghaziabad police station has found no evidence of sexual assault, media reports said, citing police.
The statement of the assistant sub-inspector, who was arrested over the alleged assault, has also come to light.
According to the suspect, the girl used to beg along with her family. He said she and her family had been stopped from begging several times.
The suspect said that after the family continued begging, he brought the girl to the police station to warn her and deter her from begging. He claimed that she was kept at the station for a short time and was later sent back to her parents after she began crying.
The police said that the investigation is continuing in light of the officer's statement and the initial medical report. The final position will become clear after the forensic report is received.
