In an act of barbarism, eyes of a man in Bahawalpur were gouged out by several people who suspected him of stealing a donkey cart in village 13-Soling.

The incident occurred on Monday within the jurisdiction of the Baghdadul Jadid police station, where a group of individuals engaged in a brutal assault on a man, identified as Sufian, and mutilated his eyes.

According to the police, the victim suffered complete vision loss in one eye, with the other eye also severely damaged. He also bore signs of torture on his body.

A police team led by the District Police Officer (DPO) Asad Sarfaraz was rushed to the scene to apprehend the culprits. The victim was also transported to the Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH) for prompt medical aid.

A police spokesperson told the local media that the motive behind this heinous crime was revealed to be a land dispute between the parties.

He confirmed that one of the five suspects, Iqrar Hussain, has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Authorities also reported about registering a first information report (FIR) against the suspects.

The recent surge in mob violence in Pakistan underscores the disturbing trend of individuals disregarding law and order by resorting to vigilantism.
