Sales of kites and kite string in Lahore crossed Rs540 million over a three-day period, according to the Kite Association.
The association said that more than 500,000 kites were sold in markets on Tuesday alone, reflecting strong demand ahead of the kite-flying season.
Meanwhile, dozens of kite shops are operating in Peshawar’s historic Yakatoot Bazaar, where craftsmen—many of them from Punjab—are working round the clock to produce kites and reels.
Thanks to their skill and experience, these artisans are producing high-quality, visually appealing kites at affordable prices, which are being supplied in large numbers to Lahore and other cities.
Shopkeepers in Yakatoot Bazaar said kite-making workshops across different parts of Peshawar are running at full pace, with workers continuously manufacturing large quantities of kites and reels to meet rising demand.
The Punjab government has officially declared 6th and 7th February 2026 as public holidays across the province amid Basant celebrations in Lahore.
A notification from the Services and General Administration Department confirmed the holidays for Friday and Saturday, giving the people of Punjab a long weekend.
The government also announced that the holiday schedule will include Kashmir Day on 5th February and Sunday, 8th February, which is a regular weekly holiday. This will allow residents to enjoy four consecutive days off from work and school.
