The tanker driver involved in the tragic Malir Halt accident has been handed over to police on three-day physical remand.

The driver was presetned before the Judicial Magistrate East.

According to police sources, the accused include tanker driver Rahim Badshah and helper Umar Waqas.

Investigating officer Mansoor Ali requested physical remand of the driver, stating that Section 322 has been added to the case.

The court inquired whether the incident was a result of personal enmity, as heavy traffic is prohibited during those hours.

The defense lawyer argued that water tankers are permitted on roads, prompting the court to ask whether the tanker had permission to operate on that route.

The investigation also aims to trace the owner of the tanker, as per the investigating officer.

Judge Ashfaq Panhwar granted a three-day physical remand of the accused to the police. The case has been registered at Model Colony Police Station.
