A mistaken identity led to a mob attack in Karachi's Nazimabad area when a group of people physically assaulted a man on suspicion of kidnapping a child, but it turned out he was the kid's maternal uncle.

The victim identified as Kamran, took his nephew on errands. However, bystanders mistakenly suspected him of kidnapping the child.

The mob severely beat child's uncle and attempted to set him on fire but police arrived at the scene in time and rescued him.

According to reports, the incident unfolded two days ago. Police intervention and confirmation from the child's mother helped resolve the situation.

The cops took the injured Kamran to a police station where the child's mother arrived and confirmed that  Kamran was her brother. She explained they had simply gone out for snacks.

Police are investigating those responsible for the brutal attack on the man.

Karachi's rising crime rate has heightened public anxiety. Residents fear muggings and violence, with some criminals resorting to killing innocent citizens.

As the authorities have failed to restore law and order in the city, frustration and a sense of helplessness among residents are fueling such incidents.

Recently, a mob in Baldia Town brutally beat and lynched a suspected robber.
