The private company working on the Data Darbar expansion project has been immediately suspended, and its owners, Usman Yaseen and Salman Yaseen, have been arrested following Lahore manhole tragedy that claimed lives of mother and her toddler.

Sources indicate that, under the chief minister’s orders, action has also been decided against government officials found guilty of negligence.

The construction site has been secured with modern safety protocols, and Bhatti Gate has been declared a safe zone, with all work halted until proper protective measures are in place.

CM Maryam Nawaz adopted a firm stance, stating that “the era of careless practices is over.”

She added that the investigation has been expanded, all negligence will be accounted for, and those responsible will be brought to justice. She emphasised that there will be no leniency for anyone putting public life and property at risk in Punjab.

Meanwhile, the CM strongly condemned terrorist attacks in Balochistan, asserting that the nation stands with the province and that the state will protect every inch of Balochistan. She stressed that national unity is essential in the fight against terrorism.

On a positive note, CM Maryam Nawaz inaugurated the Danish School in Mankera, Bhakkar, and formally launched the school meal programme.
