In the biggest robbery of the year so far, two dacoits looted Rs20 million from a citizen in Karachi, police said on Friday.

According to the law enforcers, the incident took place inside the parking area of the Karachi Stock Exchanges in the port city.

Police said two robbers committed the crime when a citizen, along with a security guard, reached the bank to deposit the money.

Robbers opened fire and took away Rs20 million with them, police added.

A security guard was injured during the firing incident, however, no casualty was reported by the cops.

CCTV footage of the incident also went viral on social media, capturing the brazen incident of robbery in broad daylight at Karachi's busiest location.

However, a case was registered against the unknown suspects and police are investigating the matter.

According to the Citizens Police Liaison Committee, over 44,000 incidents of robberies have been reported in the provincial capital in the last seven months.

Almost 85 people have also lost their lives during mugging incidents in the city of lights.

On the other hand, the city police have completely failed to curb street crime and apprehend the robbers involved in the killing incidents.
