The Sindh Cabinet has approved the construction of mega graveyards in Karachi and Hyderabad, allocating billions of rupees for the projects.
During a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, the provincial cabinet approved the allocation of 500 acres of land for a mega graveyard in Karachi, citing the urgent need for burial space in the provincial capital.
According to the cabinet decision, the land for the project will be allocated in Deh Mitha Ghar in Malir district and handed over to the Local Government Department.
The land value for the mega graveyard has been fixed at Rs13.5 million per acre, with a total allocation of Rs6.75 billion for the project.
In addition, the cabinet approved Rs252.206 million for a similar graveyard project in Hyderabad in view of the shortage of burial space in the city.
