Six-year-old boy dies after falling in open manhole in Karachi

A six-year-old boy died after falling into an open manhole in Karachi's Garden area on Wednesday, highlighting the persistent danger posed by uncovered drains in the city.

According to rescue officials, the child, identified as Khalid, fell into the manhole while returning home from a madrassa.

Rescue teams rushed to the scene and launched a search operation soon after the incident. The boy was later recovered dead.

The incident has once again raised concerns over the presence of uncovered manholes in Karachi and the alleged negligence of the civic authorities responsible for maintaining public infrastructure.
