A retired government school teacher from Sindh's deserted district of Tharparkar has earned a law degree from the University of Karachi at the age of 79.
Age is just a number, and learning has no deadline, something proven true by Sukhram Das, a retired teacher from the Thar desert and father of eight sons and one daughter.
Sukhram Das enrolled in the University of Karachi’s law department at the age of 74 and completed his degree at 79.
He belongs to Hilario Pir village in Diplo tehsil, Tharparkar.
Sukhram says his primary purpose for pursuing a law degree was to support himself and to help the poor people of his area in resolving issues related to land and other matters.
By seeking solutions to these problems, he has set a practical example for the younger generation.
