A video of people looting ration bags, which were to be delivered to deserving families under the Punjab government’s Ramadan Nigehban Relief Package, went viral on social media.
As per the details, the incident occurred in the Chowhang area of Lahore on Thursday when a truck loaded with relief hampers started distributing ration bags to needy people.
In the viral video, people can be seen engaging in a scuffle with the staff deployed to fulfill ration bags distribution duties.
People barged into the truck and looted the relief hampers by force, as shown in the video.
However, the case under different charges, including theft, and interference in government affairs, was registered against 12 unknown persons on a complaint of Patwari Asghar.
The Rs6 billion relief program was announced by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to benefit approximately 35 million people in Punjab.
Each bag consists of essential items such as a 10 kg bag of flour, 2 kg of rice, sugar, edible oil, and chickpea flour (besan).
