Woman killed with electric shocks over 'honour' in Punjab's Chishtian

A woman was allegedly killed by electric shocks in the name of 'honour' in a village on the outskirts of Punjab's Chishtian.

According to the police, the main suspects, including the woman's father and brother, have been arrested. The incident took place in Shali Gharbi village, where the victim was allegedly subjected to electric shocks by her father, mother and brother, resulting in her death, the police said.

A case has been registered at Bakhshan Khan police station.

According to the FIR, the suspects allegedly believed that the victim was in a relationship with a man. Police said the family allegedly killed her over the suspicion and later attempted to portray the incident as a suicide.

The District Police Officer took immediate notice of the incident and formed special teams to investigate the case. Police subsequently arrested the main suspects, while further legal and investigative proceedings are underway.
