20-year-old athlete Fiza Ali passes away during judo trials

A 20-year-old judoka Fiza Sher Ali passed away succumbing to injuries she sustained during judo trials organised by the Prime Minister Youth Talent Hunt Program in Mardan.

Hailing from Peshawar, Fiza was participating in a 44kg contest when she fell abruptly on her competitor, resulting in severe head injuries. 

According to the Vice President of the Pakistan Judo Federation, Masood Ahmad, the young athlete was rushed to the Mardan Hospital by Rescue 1122 officials where she was pronounced dead.

The judo trials were held under the Prime Minister Youth Talent Program at the BISE Sports Complex in Mardan, where over 50 female athletes from Peshawar participated.
