Ace batter Babar Azam urged reporters to stop referring to him as “King”, expressing that he does not yet consider himself deserving of such a title and aspires to earn it in the future.

Speaking to reporters after securing a victory against South Africa in the Tri-Nation Series, he said, "Sir, please stop calling me 'King Shing.' I am not a king yet."

Babar emphasised that his primary focus while batting is to score high, but he expressed disappointment over his inability to finish matches.

"Unfortunately, I am unable to finish, but opening is a new role for me, and I am responsible for fulfilling the team's requirements," he said.

Babar praised skipper Muhammad Rizwan and Salman Ali Agha for their record-breaking partnership, stating that they both played well and “such performances boost the team confidence”.

The former captain said he was working on overcoming challenges and playing long innings,, saying "I ask myself how I can get out of this situation."

Babar said: “What I have done before is the past, if I continue dwelling om my previous performance, I will not be able to perform in the future, Every match is a fresh challenge, and I must focus on the present and future.”

The former skipper also said that chasing a big total builds confidence.

Earlier, Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Agha, both smashed centuries as Pakistan successefully chased South Africa's total of 353-5 with six balls to spare after Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam set the platform by taking Pakistan to 50 runs in just 5.2 overs.
