Ace cricketer Babar Azam was deeply moved by his fans’ thunderous cheers during the inauguration ceremony of the newly renovated National Stadium in Karachi. A massive crowd had gathered for the star-studded celebration on Tuesday.

A viral video from the ceremony captured the moment when, as the entire Pakistan cricket team stood on stage, captain Mohammad Rizwan handed the mic to Babar Azam.

The spectators erupted in deafening applause, momentarily overwhelming the star batter.

Expressing gratitude, Babar stated that he takes immense pride in representing Pakistan. However, he had to pause his speech as the crowd’s roaring cheers grew even louder.

The cricketer also made a heartfelt appeal to Karachi’s cricket fans, urging them to fill the stadiums during matches.

“I have a complaint with the people of Karachi, you don’t come to watch matches at the stadium. Just as you all have gathered here for the ceremony, you should also come to support your team during the games,” he said.

The video quickly went viral on social media, highlighting fans’ immense love for Babar Azam.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, and MQM-P Convener Dr.Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.

As Pakistan gears up to defend its Champions Trophy title, set to begin on February 19, cricket enthusiasts flooded the stadium as administration allowed free entry to the event.

A key highlight was the unveiling of the new University Road End pavilion, offering state-of-the-art dressing rooms and hospitality suites.

The stadium’s upgrade includes 350 LED lights, digital replay screens, and over 5,000 new spectator seats.

PCB Chairman Naqvi emphasised that the revamped stadium aligns with international standards and will enhance the cricketing experience for players and fans.
