Champions Trophy 2025: ICC CEO lauds rapid revamp of Gaddafi, National Stadiums

The International Cricket Council (ICC) Chief Executive (CEO), Geoff Allardice, has praised the rapid redevelopment of Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and the National Stadium in Karachi ahead of the 2025 Champions Trophy, describing their transformation in just 117 days as a remarkable achievement.
Speaking at the Champions Trophy 2025 opening ceremony at the historic Lahore Fort, Allardice highlighted the importance of Pakistan hosting this prestigious event and expressed confidence in the nation’s passion for cricket.
“Pakistan has a golden opportunity to showcase its deep love for cricket,” said Allardice. The ICC CEO reflected on Pakistan’s historic Champions Trophy victory at The Oval, “I look forward to seeing high-quality cricket throughout the tournament.”
The ICC CEO specifically commended the modern upgrades at both Gaddafi Stadium and the National Stadium, acknowledging the efficiency and dedication involved in the infrastructure overhaul.

“Completing the transformation of Gaddafi Stadium in just 117 days is an extraordinary accomplishment,” he remarked.
With the tournament now officially underway, Allardice assured fans of an exciting two weeks of top-tier cricket.
“Over the next few weeks, cricket lovers will witness some of the best action right here in Pakistan,” he stated. The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 represents a significant milestone for Pakistan’s cricketing history, as the country hosts its first ICC event since 1996.
