Following Pakistan’s 61-run defeat to India in the ICC T20 World Cup, former cricketer Mohammad Yousuf called for an end to political interference in cricket administration.
Reacting to the loss against India national cricket team, Yousuf described the current phase as one of the most difficult periods in Pakistan cricket’s history. He expressed disappointment over the team’s performance and said that merit-based decisions were necessary to improve results.
In a statement, he said that individuals who are not performing or are deemed unsuitable for key roles should be removed from positions within the team and cricket administration.
In a separate message posted on the social media platform X, Yousuf stated that senior players including Shaheen Afridi, Babar Azam, and Shadab Khan had completed their time in the T20 setup, adding that the national side requires new performers in the shortest format.
Pakistan’s defeat has triggered broader debate among former players and analysts regarding team selection, performance standards, and administrative matters within the sport.
