The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and its secretary, Jay Shah, are reportedly unhappy with Afghanistan's decision to travel to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy, sources said on Wednesday.
The 50-over mega tournament is slated to take place in Pakistan between February and March 2025.
A day earlier, Afghanistan Cricket Board (PCB) President Mirwais Ashraf confirmed his country's participation in the mega event to PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi during ICC's Annual General Meeting in Colombo, according to sources.
However, the decision was not well received by the BCCI and its secretary, sources added.
The informers said the BCCI had previously helped Afghanistan by providing them with home venues in India, including Noida, Lucknow, and Dehradun, to host their matches.
"Despite the support, Afghanistan has chosen to accept Pakistan's invitation to participate in the Champions Trophy," they added.
However, no official statement endorsing source information was issued by BCCI or ACB.
Earlier, Indian media reported that Blue Shirts would not travel to Pakistan for the ICC tournament.
India's matches are currently scheduled to be held at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has already shared the schedule for the mega event with the International Cricket Council (ICC), which includes a highly anticipated match between Pakistan and India on March 1st at Gaddafi Stadium.
However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not officially confirmed or denied its country's participation in the tournament.
