Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is set to become the new president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) for a two-year term.
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah is currently holding the presidentship of ACC and was granted a one-year extension in January this year.
According to ACC rules, the presidency is rotated among member countries, with each country getting a chance to lead the organisation.
The rotation policy is aimed at promoting fair representation and equal opportunities for all member countries.
The issue of the next presidency was discussed in the last ACC meeting, and a formal announcement is expected to be made in the next meet-up scheduled for October or November.
As per ACC laws, the president plays a crucial role in promoting cricket in Asia, and Naqvi's leadership is expected to bring "significant benefits" to Pakistan cricket.
Naqvi's tenure as ACC president will commence after Jay Shah completes his term in January 2025.
