Cricket fans in Pakistan and across the globe are gearing up for an exciting showdown as the Tri-Nation Series begins tomorrow (Friday), with a thrilling Afghanistan vs Pakistan match at the iconic Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
The 17-member Pakistan squad, led by Salman Ali Agha, will take to the field in this opening match. Agha, who has captained the team in 18 games, will be looking to lead his side to victory in what promises to be a competitive series.
Joining Pakistan and Afghanistan in the Tri-Nation Series is the United Arab Emirates (UAE), with the final set to take place on Sunday, 7 September, between the top two teams.
All matches will be hosted at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, ensuring an electric atmosphere for the players and fans alike.
Pakistan’s squad, announced on August 17, includes key players such as Fakhar Zaman, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, Saim Ayub, Khushdil Shah, and Hussain Talat.
Since arriving in the UAE on August 20, the team has been diligently preparing through training sessions and practice matches in Dubai.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has highlighted the importance of the series as a valuable warm-up for all three teams ahead of the upcoming ACC Asia Cup, which is set to take place in Abu Dhabi and Dubai from 9 to 28 September.
In terms of head-to-head matchups, Pakistan has faced Afghanistan in T20Is seven times, winning four of those encounters.
The only T20I Pakistan has played against the UAE was in the 2016 Asia Cup, a game that Pakistan triumphed in.
