Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has offered two ministries, Sports and Youth Affairs, to former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi, Dawn News reported on Saturday citing sources.
According to sources, the 47-year-old cricketer thanked the premier for putting trust in him.
However, Afridi refused PM Shehbaz's offer of government roles, citing personal work.
"Thank you for your offer but I want to focus on my social work [Shahid Afridi Foundation]," Dawn News reported quoting the ex-skipper.
A day earlier, Afridi expressed his desire to join politics to "serve the people of his country".
"I want to step into politics and do something for Pakistan, but my elders forbid me to join politics," he said while talking to the media.
"I tell my elders that if people like us do not come into politics then how change will come," he added.
