Pakistan's final group match in the ICC Champions Trophy against Bangladesh was abandoned due to rain on Thursday at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, marking the end of Pakistan's title defence.

The match, which had only pride at stake for both teams, was called off after several rain delays, with no play possible despite multiple inspections by the umpires.

Having lost to New Zealand and India earlier in the tournament, Pakistan finished at the bottom of Group A with just one point from three matches. Bangladesh also had one point, but a better net run-rate placed them above Pakistan.

This result meant that both teams failed to advance to the semi-finals, with India and New Zealand progressing from Group A. Pakistan’s inability to win a match in their first major tournament at home in three decades was a significant disappointment.

In Group B, South Africa, Australia, and Afghanistan are competing for the remaining semi-final spots, while England have been eliminated from contention.
