Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed is set to make his return to limited-overs cricket as he joins the Pakistan Champions for the second edition of the World Championship of Legends (WCL).

Sarfaraz confirmed his participation through a social media post shared by the official Pakistan Champions account, accompanied by a video announcing his signing.

The post was captioned: "CAPTAIN. LEADER. LEGEND! Sarfaraz Ahmed is bringing his winning mentality to Pakistan Champions for WCL Season 2."

The WCL is a T20 competition that features retired and non-contracted cricket legends from around the world. The tournament brings together some of the most iconic names in the sport, offering a showcase of cricket at its best.

At 37 years old, Sarfaraz adds invaluable experience to the squad, having captained Pakistan to victory in the 2017 Champions Trophy, where they defeated arch-rivals India by 180 runs in the final.

Under his leadership, Pakistan also won 11 consecutive T20 series, including victories over teams like the West Indies, Australia, New Zealand, England, and Zimbabwe.

The inaugural season of the WCL saw India defeat Pakistan in the final, chasing down a target of 157 runs.

The second season of the WCL will begin on July 18, featuring legendary cricketers from six nations: India, Pakistan, England, Australia, South Africa, and the West Indies.

The tournament will kick off with a match between England Champions and Pakistan Champions at Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham, followed by the much-anticipated India vs Pakistan match on July 20, also at Edgbaston.

The knockout stages will take place on July 31, with the grand final set for August 2.
