The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is likely to appoint former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson as the head coach of Pakistan's men cricket team, sources said on Wednesday.
According to the sources, the newly-appointed PCB chairman Syed Mohsin Naqvi is considering three names for the coaching role.
Ex-New Zealand head coach Mike Hesson and West Indies cricketing legend Daren Sammy are also among the contenders for the coveted post, sources added.
However, the PCB chief has placed his trust in the Quetta Gladiators coach.
Watson, Hesson and Sammy are currently working as head coaches for Quetta Gladiators, Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi, respectively, during the ongoing Pakistan Super League.
On the other hand, PCB is mulling appointing Sir Vivian Richards for the role of mentorship.
Sources further revealed the schedule of the five-match T20I series between Pakistan and New Zealand, which is likely to be played in the second week of April.
