Pakistan and New Zealand’s crucial Super 8 clash in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to persistent rain in Colombo.
Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha had won the toss and opted to bat first. However, continuous rainfall delayed proceedings, and the umpires eventually called off the match without any play taking place.
As a result of the abandonment, both teams were awarded one point each.
For the fixture against New Zealand, Fakhar Zaman was included in the playing XI in place of Khawaja Nafay.
Pakistan’s next Super 8 encounter is scheduled for 24 February against England.
