An explosion inside a mosque in a village in Maharashtra’s Beed district caused damage to the structure but resulted in no casualties, according to Indian media reports.
The blast occurred around 3 AM, damaging the floor and walls of the mosque. Investigators believe gelatin sticks, commonly used in mining and construction, were used in the explosion.
Authorities have arrested two suspects after analyzing a viral social media video. Police reports indicate that on Saturday evening, a procession took place in the village, attended by people from different communities.
Around 9:30 PM, two individuals reportedly arrived at the site, questioned the mosque’s construction, and attempted to incite communal tension. However, the situation was brought under control.
Later that night, police received intelligence that two individuals had placed explosive material inside the mosque. The village head (Sarpanch) informed law enforcement after the explosion occurred.
Following the blast, police reached the scene, secured the area, recorded witness statements, and registered a case. Security has been tightened in the region to prevent any further unrest.
