Hamas suspends return of Israeli body after Netanyahu orders strikes on Gaza

Hamas has announced the suspension of the process of returning a second Israeli body in response to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s order for renewed attacks on Gaza

According to a report by Al Jazeera, Hamas’s military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, declared that it would halt the return of the body of an Israeli captive recovered earlier in the day, citing Israel’s violation of an existing agreement.

The Al-Qassam Brigades stressed that any form of Israeli aggression would disrupt the search, excavation, and recovery of bodies, causing further delays in the process of returning remains.

In its statement, Hamas accused Israel of fabricating baseless pretexts to justify a new round of aggression in Gaza.

The group further said that Israel was obstructing efforts to locate and retrieve bodies in Gaza and called on mediators to allow humanitarian agencies to carry out their duties without political interference or military escalation.

It is worth noting that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had accused Hamas of mishandling the process of returning bodies and subsequently ordered the military to launch new strikes on Gaza.
