The Holy Kaaba, Islam's holiest site, is set to be adorned with a new cover, known as Kiswa, on the 1st of Muharram in a solemn ceremony in Saudi Arabia.
The Kiswa is the cloth that covers the walls and doors of the Kaaba and is considered a blessing and honor among Muslims.
The ceremony to change the holy cloth had been taking place in the month of Zil Hajj, however, the tradition was changed in 2022.
The new cover was handed over to the special guard of the Kaaba by Prince Saud Bin Mishal Al-Saud, the deputy governor of the Makkah region on July 19.
According to the official X handle of the Two Holy Mosques, the new Kiswa is made of 670kg of natural silk, 120kg of gold thread, and 100kg of silver thread.
