Iran has made a major announcement regarding the nuclear agreement signed with the United States and several other world powers, stating that the ten-year term of the deal has officially ended.
According to a statement issued by the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “The duration of the 10-year agreement concerning our nuclear program, signed with global powers, has expired. All provisions of the 2015 nuclear accord ended on Saturday.”
The ministry further reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to resolving issues through diplomacy, emphasizing that Tehran continues to support peaceful engagement.
It is worth noting that the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was signed in 2015 between Iran, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Russia, and China.
Under the decade-long deal, Iran agreed to limit its nuclear activities in exchange for the lifting of international economic sanctions.
However, in 2018, then-U.S. President Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew the United States from the agreement, reimposing sanctions on Tehran.
