An Israel soldier was killed when a driver rammed his truck into the security checkpoint in the occupied West Bank, the country's military said.

The heavy vehicle's driver was “neutralised” by Israeli forces and an armed civilian at the attack scene near the illegal Jewish settlement of Givat Assaf, north of Ramallah, according to Israel's military.

The Israeli soldier, who was killed by the unidentified man, was identified as 24-year-old Staff Sergeant Geri Gideon Hanghal.

The incident was captured on video, showing the truck changing lanes and crushing the soldier who was deployed to "conduct operational activity" in the occupied territory.

Earlier, a Jordanian truck driver shot and killed three Israeli security guards near the Allenby Bridge border crossing between the occupied West Bank and Jordan.

Later, the Israeli military reported that the attacker arrived at the crossing from Jordan in a truck on Sunday (September 8) morning and opened fire at the border guards, killing three Israeli civilians who were working as security guards.

Following the attack, the Israeli military had "eliminated" Maher at the spot.

Israel's military offensives in Gaza since Oct 7 have resulted in devastating losses, with over 41,000 Palestinians killed, including 16,456 children and 11,000 women.

Over 95,000 people have been wounded by Israeli bombings and attacks in the war-torn enclave.
