Ongoing Israeli assaults in Gaza are taking a toll not only on Palestinians but also on the mental health of Israeli soldiers.
According to Israeli media, a volunteer soldier committed suicide just two days before his scheduled deployment.
The soldier’s mother revealed that the inhumane atrocities in Gaza had deeply wounded her son’s spirit, leaving him sleepless for several nights.
Reports warn that such psychological strain could push more soldiers toward suicide. So far this year, 18 Israeli soldiers have taken their own lives, while several volunteer soldiers have refused to return to duty.
Meanwhile, Israeli airstrikes on Gaza today claimed the lives of more than 50 Palestinians, including 26 people who were awaiting humanitarian aid.

Hunger and severe food shortages also led to the deaths of five more Palestinians, bringing the death toll from enforced famine to 217, among them 100 children.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that with Hamas refusing to surrender, eliminating the group remains the only option, adding that the new military operation will be concluded soon.
