BENGALURU: Panic gripped staff and customers at a private bank in Bengaluru, Karnataka, after its Wi-Fi network name was reportedly changed to “Pakistan Zindabad,” prompting police action and local outrage.

According to Indian media reports, a man identified as Govardhan Singh lodged a police complaint after noticing the controversial Wi-Fi name at the bank two days ago.

Singh is said to be affiliated with Bajrang Dal, the youth wing of the hardline Hindu organisation Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP).

Following the incident, several Bajrang Dal members gathered outside the bank, alleging that “anti-national elements” were active in the area.

The bank’s management, however, clarified that it had recently hired a local technician to repair its Wi-Fi system, and the network name was changed following his visit.

Police officials said efforts were made to contact the technician for questioning, but his phone has been switched off and he has not been seen since leaving the premises.

Authorities have registered a case and launched a search for the technician, while the bank has restored its network to normal and assured customers that no data or financial systems were compromised.
