Indian National Congress (INC) leader Rahul Gandhi recited Durood on the Holy Prophet (PBUH) while delivering a fiery speech in the session of Lok Sabha (lower parliament).

The gesture promotes interfaith harmony as Indian leaders usually quote the Prophet Muhammad without saying (PBUH).

During the speech, he took aim at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for their politics of hatred.

He emphasised the teachings of non-violence, fearlessness, and eliminating fear, quoting the Ayat from the Holy Quran.

"It's written in Islam and Quran. The Prophet (PBUH) said; He [Allah] said, Fear not. Indeed, I am with you both; I hear and I see,” Gandhi cited verse 46 from chapter 20 while reciting Durood.

"Means it's said in Islam that don't be afraid," the Indian opposition leader added.

Gandhi criticised the ruling BJP for spreading hatred, fear, and violence, pointing out the contradiction between their actions and their claim to be Hindus.

When the Congress leader called BJP a violent party, Modi took offense to Gandhi's remarks, demanding an apology for allegedly accusing the entire Hindu community of violence.

"Calling the entire Hindu community violent, it's a serious issue," the Indian PM responded.

In response, Gandhi clarified that his remarks were not for the entire Hindu community but for the BJP and RSS.

"Narendra Modi isn't an entire Hindu community, BJP isn't an entire Hindu community, RSS isn't an entire Hindu community," Gandi gave a befitting reply to the Hindutva leader.
