Gold prices in Pakistan surged to a fresh record on Friday, following a global trend.
The price of gold per tola in the local market rose by Rs1,500, reaching Rs291,800, while the price of 10-gram gold increased by Rs1,286, closing at Rs250,171, according to the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA).
This follows a significant rise the previous day when gold prices hit Rs290,300.
Globally, gold prices also soared, hitting an all-time high of $2,799.71 per ounce earlier in the day before settling at $2,797.48 per ounce.
The global rally is being driven by concerns over rising US tariffs, with investors flocking to gold as a safe-haven asset ahead of a critical inflation report.
Gold prices surge in Pakistan following international trend
The international rate of gold increased by $14 on Friday, rising to $2,792 per ounce.
Silver prices in Pakistan remained unchanged at Rs3,300 per tola.
The global surge in gold prices is linked to fears over a 25% tariff imposed by the United States on imports from Mexico and Canada, as stated by President Donald Trump on Thursday.
