As many as 45 people have died fom heatstroke in Karachi during month of June, Sindh Health Department said on Monday.

Of these fatalities, 18 occurred at Civil Hospital, and three were reported from Qatar Hospital.

Additionally, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) announced on Monday that Karachi experienced its hottest night on record in July, characterized by intense heat and high humidity.

The city's minimum temperature was recorded at 32 degrees Celsius, the highest nighttime temperature ever recorded in July for Karachi. In comparison, the highest temperatures recorded in July 2021 and 2022 were 31 degrees Celsius. This recent temperature was 4.1 degrees Celsius above the average July temperature of 27.9 degrees Celsius.

The PMD has forecast that temperatures will stabilize around 27.9 degrees Celsius for the rest of July. Following several days of extreme heat, the Met Office has predicted the restoration of the sea breeze in Karachi from Monday.

Sea winds are currently blowing at 18 km per hour, with air humidity at 70 percent. The revival of the southwesterly sea breeze, which usually helps moderate the weather, is expected to provide some relief from the scorching heat.

Moreover, the Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted that the first monsoon spell will hit Karachi from July 5, bringing further relief to the residents.
