Renowend actor and Instagram influencer Hania Aamir has sparked criticism for appearing in a TV commercial for a brand linked to Israel, while also voicing her support for Palestinians on social media.

Hania Aamir took to photo-video sharing app to share her new Garnier TVC. The popular skincare brand is owned by L’Oreal which is facing boycott calls due to its business practice in Israel.

Her post sparked criticism online, with many social media users accusing her of endorsing an Israeli brand. They argued this contradicts her previous expressions of solidarity with Palestine.

"Pinning your palestinian posts yet promoting brands that fund genocide?" an Instagram user expressed her anger.

One fan kindly suggested to the actor, "[...] I wanted to gently remind you that Garnier is on the boycott list due to its ties with Israel. I completely understand that it might have been an oversight, and I appreciate your influence and voice on important issues! By choosing to boycott Israeli brands, we can collectively make a positive impact on the global community. Let's support ethical and responsible businesses that align with our values."

Garnier’s parent company, L’Oreal’s factory in Migdal Haemek, Israel, is dedicated to manufacturing hair and skin care products for export, particularly in Europe and North America.

Migdal Haemek, an Israeli settlement established in 1952, is situated on the location of the village al-Mujaydil, formerly inhabited by ethnically cleansed Palestinians. The original inhabitants of al-Mujaydil are currently barred from returning to their homes.

In 2014, Garnier donated products to the Israeli army through the pro-Israel organisation, Stand with Us, which had requested financial aid for basic necessities like toiletries and energy bars for female soldiers.

Later, the brand had issued an apology after a public uproar on social media.
