A shocking revelation emerged from a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee, where it was disclosed that Pakistanis are allegedly involved in 50 percent of the crimes committed in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The meeting, chaired by Senator Zeeshan Khanzada, was briefed by the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development on the issue.
The ministry revealed that two million Pakistanis send $7 billion in foreign exchange to Saudi Arabia annually, but emphasised the need to avoid sending unskilled workers abroad.
The Senate committee has sought details of 4,000 employment companies amid concerns that Pakistanis are the most involved in criminal activities abroad.
During the meeting, it was also revealed that 92 nurses were deported to Pakistan from Saudi Arabia due to a "lack of degrees".
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed embassies abroad to focus on economic diplomacy, according to the Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
However, the ministry also expressed concerns about the behaviour of some Pakistanis abroad, who make "inappropriate TikTok videos".
The secretary noted that some Pakistanis had filmed TikTok videos mocking people's clothes, which disappointed foreign countries and raised concerns about the attitudes and morals of Pakistani citizens abroad.
However, the details of the overseas countrymen, who were involved in making unseemly videos, were not provided by the official.
